Title: Borough of Haworth - Bergen County
The Borough of Haworth is seeking a qualified candidate for the full-time position of Deputy Municipal Clerk. The ideal candidate will have experience in the Municipal Clerk’s office, including responding to OPRA requests, managing elections, preparing agendas, resolutions, ordinances, and meeting minutes, overseeing records management, issuing permits and licenses, and performing other duties as required. Experience with municipal land use, including assisting with zoning regulations and supporting the land use board processes, is essential. The Deputy Municipal Clerk must be able to carry out the duties of the Municipal Clerk in their absence. Applicants must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal abilities, and proficiency in administrative, organizational, and computer/technical tasks, including Microsoft Word and Excel. A commitment to learning, the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, and professionalism and confidentiality are required. Occasional evening meetings and extended hours during election periods may be required. A minimum of three years of government office experience is preferred. Candidates should also possess or be willing to obtain the Certified Municipal Registrar (CMR) certification. Duties will include processing vital statistics, assisting with council meetings, issuing licenses and permits, assisting with elections, records management, and customer service. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications, education, and experience.
