DIRECTOR OF RECREATION AND CULTURAL AFFAIRS – River Edge Borough, Bergen County, seeks a community-oriented and experienced professional for a full-time position (M-F 8:00-4:00) plus evenings & weekends for meetings and events as needed. Successful candidate must develop and administer recreational and cultural activities for all ages. Demonstrated experience required in coordination of multiple sports teams, park/field maintenance, capital planning, scheduling of athletic fields, summer camp program, event planning, budgeting, reconciling trust accounts, personnel supervision, background checks, program record keeping, database management, and other duties as required. Experience with Community Pass and Edmunds Financial Software a plus.

Bachelor’s degree in Recreation or related field with at least 3 years’ employment experience is required. Certified Park and Recreation Profession certification from the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) required or must be able to obtain within 18 of months from date of hire. Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) certification required or must be able to obtain within 24 months from the date of hire.
