The Deputy Borough Clerk supports the Borough Clerk by ensuring the essential duties and responsibilities of the Clerk’s Office are completed in a timely manner. The ideal candidate must have excellent customer service skills and be supremely organized.

- Prepares minutes of the meetings of the governing body
- Processes resolutions and ordinances following Council meetings and distributes to appropriate departments
- Packages ordinances to send to webmaster for posting on website
- Supports the Borough Clerk with election duties
- Prepares and issues licenses for dogs and cats
- Processes applications for taxi owner & operator and business licenses
- Certifies taxi owner insurance requests
- Attends Council meetings in the absence of the Borough Clerk
- Provides exemplary customer service to residents and visitors at the Clerk’s Counter
- Deposits all fees collected for various licenses in accordance with Finance Office procedures and prepare monthly report
- Oversees filing of Borough records and documents
- Orders supplies for office, postage machine, and copy machine
- Prepares legal documents in the absence of the Borough Clerk
- Administers the Oath of Office to board & commission members in absence of the Borough Clerk
- Assists with fulfillment of OPRA requests by collecting information and performing research of official records
- Assists Department Heads with preparing reports, resolutions, and agreements as required
- Attests to official signatures on Borough documents in the Borough Clerk’s absence
- Undertakes other activities as determined by the Borough Administrator, Mayor, or Council


- High School Diploma required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Two years’ experience in an office environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Experience with POSSE
- Knowledge of Open Public Meetings Act and Right to Know Law
- Knowledge of local government functions and principles
- Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with others
- Valid New Jersey Driver’s License
- New Jersey Registered Municipal Clerk Certification or willingness to obtain within three years of employment
