Title: Borough of Merchantville - Camden County



The Borough of Merchantville seeks an administrative assistant to provide office support to the Construction, Community Development, and Housing Rental Registration offices. The position is a part time position with up to thirty (30) hours per week with the potential to transition to a full time position at a future date. The position does offer limited flexibility for remote work.

The position requires an individual who will be able to greet visitors and assist with intake and administrative functions for each of the offices identified. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

· Processing of construction permits in accordance with Uniform Construction Code (UCC) regulations, updating files, keeping track of approvals, scheduling inspections and coordination with sub-code officials; maintaining logs of certificate issuance and fees, assisting Construction Official to monitor compliance due dates.

  • Managing the administrative process for cyclical housing rental inspections; maintaining rental registration records and invoicing landlords for inspections.
  • Processing of zoning permits, board applications, and zoning violations, assisting with Board meetings (i.e., posting agendas on municipal website, preparing packets and chrome books for meetings, preparing Board meeting minutes), assisting in management of escrow accounts, maintaining land use approval files.
  • The individual must have strong customer service and computer skills, be highly organized with attention to detail, and be able to work well with other staff in the Borough. The successful applicant must be willing to attend training, if needed. Competence in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel required. Knowledge of Edmunds Gov Tech software or other software applications related to municipal government is preferred. Previous experience in a municipal environment and/or local knowledge is also preferred.
