Title: Town of Newton - Sussex County
Administrative Clerk – Municipal Clerk Part-Time
Summary: Town of Newton, Sussex County, NJ, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of PT Administrative Assistant to provide administrative and clerical support to the Municipal Clerk. The Town of Newton is the County Seat of Sussex County with a population of approximately 8,300.
This position is a part-time, civil service non-competitive clerical position for 20 hours/week.
Specific Responsibilities:
o Prepare a wide variety of correspondence, manuals, and spreadsheets
o Provide assistance and support to visitors and customers in person, via the phone and/or email
o Organizes and maintains the filing systems, filing all incoming documents in proper locations
o Vital Statistics requests
o Monthly reports
o Assists with Licensing and Permits
o Other duties as assigned by the Municipal Clerk
Specific Requirements:
o Requires 3+ years of solid administrative and/or office experience
o Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as strong customer service focus
o Proficient in Microsoft Office; including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook (or equivalent Google products)
o Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
o Must be dedicated and responsible in all tasks
o Ability to effectively multi-task required
o Strong attention to detail; the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
